Phase 02

A new high school

King David High School (KDHS) plays an important role in building and sustaining Vancouver’s Jewish community. With this in mind, the new school will not only be considerably bigger than the current school, but it will also enhance the student experience and make it an attractive option for Jewish students.

In the new KDHS, students will have access to school spaces designed to facilitate participatory learning, innovation and creativity. The new school will also be right next to the new JCC, facilitating the integration of services and spaces.

Highlights of the new school will be:

  • a 25% increase in space that allows for enhanced programs in Judaic Studies and additional elective courses;

  • large common areas that support learning;

  • a dedicated gym and changing rooms in the JCC;

  • outdoor fields and courts for sports and socializing;

  • ready access to volunteer opportunities at the JCC; and

  • better integration of KDHS students into the multi-generational community.

Construction will start once the new JCC is completed.
